FERNDALE — Police said they caught a man Thursday morning driving a rental car 18 months after he was supposed to return it.
A Ferndale police officer spotted a 2009 Toyota on Eight Mile Road about 4:30 a.m. with an expired license plate. The officer followed the car, which police said they later learned was rented in early 2009 but never returned to Avis Rent-A-Car, 27364 Woodward, Royal Oak.
“The driver hadn’t seen fit to return the vehicle when he was supposed to in February 2009 and it was reported to Royal Oak police back then,” said Ferndale police Detective John Thull.
